…in the mock election held at my mom’s elementary school. Hey, I gotta look for good news where I can find it.
That said, my prediction is Obama wins 286-252, taking all the John Kerry states plus CO, NM, IA…and VA. As much as I would like to let myself believe that John McCain has a chance in Pennsylvania, I agree with Joe Scarborough that, election after election, PA is like Lucy holding the football and the Republicans are like Charlie Brown. Good grief.
Though, there was an interesting note yesterday from Campaign Carl, who is traveling with the McCain Campaign, saying John McCain is the most optimistic as he has been in 14 years. As per his report from a rally in New Mexico…
“When you look at what’s happened in the polls in Ohio, Virginia, North Carolina and Florida- They believe that they’ve strengthened. Essentially, the conservative districts in those states are now secured. That they still have a little bit of work to do particularly in the much vaunted GOP ground game; knocking on doors, making phone calls, lots of emails to shore them up entirely. But, most of the Red States they think they’re now safe in… In places like Pennsylvania, Ohio and Missouri expect a late night. No quick calls tomorrow.”
Twelve campaign stops in ten different states doesn’t seem like something you would do if you thought you were facing a blowout. I had said that McCain seemed to show a lot more confidence in the past week or two, and that he has a terrible poker face, so either their internals are good or his staff is lying to him.
Plus if the D’s only have a 5% advantage over the R’s as far as turnout goes, that throws off all the polls (some of which give the D’s a double digit advantage…I’m sorry, but they don’t have a 14% advantage in Indiana).
I guess we find out later tonight. Hopefully much, much, much later tonight…
