JOHN’S NOTE: My friend Lee, Colmes to my Hannity and Mika to my Joe, took issue with this column on Eric Holder. Here is his rebuttal. Expect to see more of these in the future because he takes issue with many things I write.
Two points about what you wrote -
1) Let’s assume that ‘Bam taking his time in making his cabinet appointments, especially to the real important ones (Treasury, Sec of State, etc.), is a good thing. Careful consideration and due thought – you know, like NOT making snap appointments in nepotistic haste – is actually a positive.
We could have him do such a bad job in his appointments that he has to rebuild almost his entire cabinet a few years later (which by the way – oveturning 3/4 of your cabinet after being re-elected – is still a huge black eye on whatever part of that administration is actually left).
And point # 2 -
2) Holder was the real no-brainer appointment here. There is no one you can name that is more qualified for the position right now. His credentials far exceed the likes of say John Ashcrofts, but no one complained then. We just let that eagle soar.
Maybe he should have re-appointed Alberto Gonzales? Or how about Harriet Myers? ‘Bam could have made impetuous decisions to help his friends without consideration for the posts they will be holding, such as Mike Brown (FEMA), and in doing so he would make a ton of bad appointments.
But he made has made very solid picks so far. Very solid, I think. I expected he would, so I am not surprised. You know his cabinet is shaping up to be a powerhouse group. It actually makes me a little tingly…
And a bonus point – when he promised ‘Change’, he meant from what we have right now, not from what actually is proven to work. Change from the failures, not the previous successes. Solid cabinet appoints will be his first step to making a real CHANGE.
He has plenty of time. Let him get it done correctly, not quickly. I know ‘you’ people can not wait to criticize and jump all over him for anything he says or does, but relax. I mean – he is still 2 freakin’ months away from being sworn in. Jeez.
Stop being all Scarboroughy…
You have a lame duck president that still deserves criticism.
Lame duck…. more like a wooden decoy. Has anyone even seen W. the last three months?
(and that let the eagle soar joke was damn funny!)
Don’t ever call me Colmes again, you ignorant slut.
