Giving Thanks

“Some friendships do not last, but some friends are more loyal than brothers.”
- Proverbs 18:24

I’m thankful for God in heaven, who has blessed me with my sense of humour, creativity, and everything that you’re aboot to read.

I’m thankful for my mom for all the reasons I’m always thankful for her. Plus, she hasn’t thrown me out yet. Good on her for that.

I’m thankful for the Stattler to my Waldorf, the Cohen to my Scarborough, the Longo to my Serra, and the Nick Hex to my S.A. Martinez, who always bring the political debate, the A-material, and most importantly, the beer…lots and lots of beer.

I’m thankful for all the new additions to my family, with a special shout out to Uncle Chris, and for having a place within walking distance for football and all the drinking holidays.

I’m thankful for my brave brothers and sisters overseas, and for the sacrifices they and their families have made so that I can sit on my front porch with a cigar and a glass of bourbon today.

I’m thankful for being able to see Bon Jovi,The Police, and the original-ish Van Halen at Madison Square Garden this year.

I’m thankful for a boss that always thinks to fill the candy jar before she goes away, and a German who always shares her sandwich (and who finds it funny when I call her Mein Fuhrer).

I’m thankful for my Byters.

I’m thankful for the apple pie my mom has been getting for the past fifteen years, and the family that never forgets us that I don’t think I’ve ever met.

I’m thankful for the “Observation Deck,” which has just aboot influenced everything I’ve done since. That’s right; all of this is YOUR fault!

I’m thankful for all the friends I’ve kept in touch with through the years, and to the friends I’ve apparently touched throughout the years that they went to look for me on Facebook.

I’m thankful for strangers who invite other strangers into their home to share in what we call democracy, the service and sacrifice John McCain has given to this country, and that I live in a country where a black kid with a single mom and a funny name can one day be President of the United States. More importantly than any of that, I’m thankful that the damn election is finally over.

I’m thankful for Hotair.com, because if not for trackbacks I’d have no one visiting my blog.

I’m thankful that I may have found my new Concerts, even though Phyllis would plotz if she knew they were all Republicans.

I’m thankful for Taylor Swift in the morning, Explosions in the Sky in the afternoon, and Coheed and Cambria on the ride home.

I’m thankful for rediscovering the joy of reading and the boss new bookcase George Bush and Nancy Pelosi bought me to house all my books. They also got me new office furniture as well. They rock.

I’m thankful for the gang on “Morning Joe,” the all-stars on “Special Report with Brit Hume,” and the panel on “Lou Dobbs Tonight.”

I’m thankful for having known (in a way) Tim Russert.

I’m thankful for anyone I’ve shared a cup of coffee with.

I’m thankful for country music and mixed martial arts.

I’m thankful for all that I may have forgot, that I won’t remember until after I click the “post” or “send” buttons.

Finally, I’m thankful for everyone reading this right now, who in one way or another, no matter for how long or how short, have been a part of my life over the past year and given me reason to pause and give thanks.

Happy Thanksgiving!

THE RIGHT HOOK

Thanks for stopping by, though I currently have this blog on hold while I focus more on building one for THE RIGHT HOOK, the sodom and gammorah of conservative podcasts and your anthem for the underground where the RINOs and the Radicals come together as one!
