I’ve, if you’ll excuse the pun, dodged two bullets this year playing fantasy football. The first was when I tried to draft Tom Brady in the first round (since he did so well for me last year), but my buddy Aaron beat me to it. Brady blew out his knee in the first game. I suddenly became content with Jay Cutler.
The second was two weeks ago when I traded Plaxico Burress for Matt Ryan. I needed a back-up QB and Plaxico was the weak link of my receivers so it sounded like a good trade. Finding out this weekend that he shot himself in the leg…it’s a good Sunday to be me, especially since I’m starting Ryan today.
I never really got into football until a few years ago when I started playing fantasy with my friends. I never really played sports as a kid (I was always second last to be picked, what with me being fat and lazy), and that was generally how people got into football…by playing. Fantasy Football is my way to play, plus it makes the games a lot more interesting when I’m trying to beat my friends.
I’m still trying to choose on a favourite team. All front running jokes aside, it would normally be the Giants just because I live in New York and it usually goes that Yankee fans are Giants fans, and the Mets fans are Jets fans.
