2010 Watch: Jeb Bush

With Florida Senator Mel Martinez suddenly announcing his retirement and that he won’t run for re-election in 2010. The front runner to run for his open seat? Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush. You heard that last name right…Bush.

This is interesting, because there are a lot of people with R’s after their last name who think that Jeb would be President-Elect right now if his last name was “Smith” or “Goldman.” Many think that he should have been the second President Bush. He came into the statehouse with a 70 percent approval rating. He left the statehouse…with a 70 percent approval rating. Jeb just thinking aboot running already has the Florida Republicans getting out of his way

But there’s the pesky problem of his last name and his big brother. I don’t know if the D’s have any all-stars to run against him…but you know that the DNC would be a buttload of money down to Florida to make sure he doesn’t win. Conventional wisdom says that anyone with the last name Bush can’t win anywhere…including Reggie Bush if he ever decided to run for Congress.

Is that conventional? Is it just liberal bias? We might soon find out.

UPDATE: Hmmm…

UPDATE DEUX: Oh well…
