The Rod Blagojevich Drinking Game
Rod Blagojevich, the DEMOCRAT Governor of Illinois, was arrested today after a three-year investigation regarding bribery, union shake downs, and all other sorts of goodies…including filling BAM’s Senate seat.
All the taudry details still have to come out, but I propose the Rod Blagojevich drinking game…everytime MSNBC doesn’t point out that he’s a Democrat, take a shot.
I do have three questions:
1. Why bribery? Wouldn’t it have been easier just to give the seat to Jesse Jackson III?
2. Does Illinois even have a GOP to exploit this?
3. Can you imagine the media reaction if BAM was a Republican?
UPDATE: Actually, one more question…why arest him now?
UPDATE DEUX: Let the neutering begin.
UPDATE TRES: Buh-Bye!
He's the Bible in one hand, a bottle of Crown Royal in the other, and we all know Jesus didn't turn the wine into Dr. Pepper...

The only republican we have left in Illinois is Jim Edgars. (Coincidentally, the only governor in Illinois in the last – what – decade that isn’t in jail.) Jim, unfortunately, isn’t coming back to politics. He was a great governor though.
This will be all over the news, at least in Illinois, for some time. It was (and still is) when George Ryan, a REPUBLICAN (sorry! I just had to!) was indicted for the same thing – dirty politics.
We in Illinois have a long history of mostly Republican governors, some good, some bad, and I have no doubt in my mind that the next governor will be a Republican, so sit tight.
Rod is like the George W. Bush of Illinois – such a low approval rating that there is almost no chance for his party to get into his office come the next election (or sooner, as in this case.) Even without this indictment, we all knew that the next governor would be a Republican. As long as it isn’t Alan Keyes. (Seriously Republican Party of Illinois? WHY? I get that he has his own politics, and his own beliefs, but they in no way represent the majority of Illinois. But that’s a rant for another time.)
You and I differ on our political standings, you swing firmly right, while I swing all over the place depending on the office, but I think we can both agree that the sooner this man is out of office, the better for Illinois.
(Good gravy that was a long comment!)
Yup, he’s a Democrat. And George Ryan’s a Republican. Sort of a big so-what there. Neither party has a monopoly on corruption. Kind of tough to screech ‘DEMOCRAT’ and not sound kind of silly, what with Ryan sitting in prison.
I was mainly screeching ‘DEMOCRAT’ at the media, only because they made sure we knew Ryan was a Republican.
I’d bet they weren’t listening.
Too busy trying to scratch up ad revenue.
