A friend had posted on Facebook that he was finally getting around to seeing “Superbad.” I’m actually becoming a fan of what I call the “Judd Apatow Players,” which is any combination of Seth Rogan, Jason Segel, Paul Rudd, and James Franco. And while “Superbad” was my least favourite of the movies, I decided to watch my favourite one again, “Forgetting Sarah Marshall.”
It’s even funnier the second time around. Third too! (I couldn’t sleep last night)
I always dig these movies. At their core they have a real touching story, and wrap that story in ninety minutes of sex, drugs and vulgarity…everything those of us at JBdotC find hee-sterical. “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” didn’t disappoint. You really felt for what Peter was going through, we’ve all been there. And while I thought the fourth or fifth time we saw his junk was a bit much, the situation he found himself in while he tried “dating” sometimes made it hard to breathe from laughing so hard.
As for Mila Kunis…she never looked that good on “That 70′s Show.” We’ve all seen movies where you have the oh-so-hot leading lady who is funny, hot, cool to be around, low-maintenance, hot…and simply doesn’t exist in the real world. Kunis played it the best I’ve seen in a while.
If you’re like me and heart raunchy comedy’s with a great story behind them, you owe yourself the $4.95 to rent “Forgetting Sarah Marshall.”

Forgetting Sarah Marshall was definitely a good movie, but it was at times ruined for me by Kristen Bell (annoying much?!) Russell Brand was hilarious; definitely better in action in a scripted part than blabbing on stage about JoBro virginity etc (re: this year’s VMA’s). The rest of the cast was flawless. I’m definitely enjoying the movies being put out by the “Aptow Players”…I have yet to check out Zack and Miri Make a Porno but I really enjoyed Pineapple Express earlier this year. They have replaced and eclipsed the Will Ferrell/Ben Stiller/Owen Wilson brand of comedy that at its peak produced the likes of Zoolander, Starsky and Hutch, Old School, Anchor Man, and of course, Wedding Crashers. I’m waiting for a comeback.
The dawn of the “Apatow players”, the TV series, “Freaks and Geeks”, and “Undeclared” are both great. I’m a big fan also. I’m hoping Martin Starr takes a leading role in something – I think he’s hilarious.
