Obama’s Other Woman (No. 2 in a Series)
I had mentioned aboot the tension I expect between P.E. BAM and Nancy Pelosi this year, and it just occurred to me why it might be. Ms. Pelosi right now is the Head Democrat in Charge. After inauguration day, she gets bumped down to three (or four if you consider Secretary of State Rodham-Clinton). So, I’ve decided that “Obama’s Other Woman” is going to be a series.
Today I’d like to take a look at the different ways they are choosing to work with those of us in the conservative underground alcoholics anonymous the Republican Party. This is P.E. BAM dealing with Republicans yesterday:
Mr. Obama listened as Republicans raised concerns about waste and transparency in the economic stimulus plan. He agreed with a suggestion raised by Representative Eric Cantor, Republican of Virginia, about putting the entire contents of the legislation online in a user-friendly way to see how the money is being spent.
And this is Nancy Pelosi:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi plans to re-write House rules today to ensure that the Republican minority is unable to have any influence on legislation. Pelosi’s proposals are so draconian, and will so polarize the Capitol, that any thought President-elect Obama has of bipartisan cooperation will be rendered impossible before he even takes office. Pelosi’s rule changes — which may be voted on today — will reverse the fairness rules that were written around Newt Gingrich’s “Contract with America.”
Obviously running against her in San Fransisco in 2010 would be a waste, but running against her in every moderate/purple congressional district is going to be more fun than a barrel of monkeys.
