Standing athwart history, yelling, “I’m not wearing any pants!”

You have got to be flipping kidding me.

I know the rumors aboot Hillary Clinton to State and Judd Gregg to Commerce started with whispering on the Internet, and I know President Obama wants everyone to see how mad bi-partisan he is, but with yesterday’s suggestion to appoint Mitt Romney as Health and Human Service secretary, and today’s suggestion of Newt Gingrich, now we’re just getting silly.

And I actually usually like Craig Crawford…

Gingrich? Now before you lefties have a collective heart attack, think about it. Something as big as overhauling our entire health care system will be tougher to get done on a purely partisan basis. There are Republicans who want to play.

As much as it would infuriate liberals, picking Gingrich would be a hyper-bipartisan move. Would it confound the GOP into submission on health care? Maybe not, but it would be a bold move to change the political dynamics that have killed reforms in the past.

Are people running out of things to blog aboot, or is it just a matter of choosing random Republicans just for the shits and giggles of it? Because this whole “Team of Rivals” meme that people keeping trying to push has officially jumped the shark if we’re suggesting the two most prominent opponents of the Obama agenda would jump at the chance to head the HHS Department.

I mean seriously, does anyone think Romney or Gingrich could pretend to support S-Chip without laughing?
