Fiscal Suicide: Obey Obama

“I reject that theory, and so did the American people when they went to the polls in November and voted resoundingly for change.” – President Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes on tax cuts in the stimulus plan.

The American people also voted for a charismatic leader who told them he was going to lower their taxes, reduce the deficit, not hire lobbyists, and post new bills on the Internet for five days before he signed them. But, like, whatever.

Anyway, while the crap sandwich the kids like to call the Great Fiscal Suicide Act of 2009 continues to lose more and more public support (I believe one Democrat pollster referred to it as a “festering corpse”) as is wont to happen whenever people point out exactly what’s in these spending bills, I come to the conclusion that it all comes down to spin. Let me tell you if you’ve noticed this…

–>Republicans seem to be trying to sell their point of view by questioning how this bill is actually going to stimulate the economy and create jobs, and offering alternatives they think would be more effective (some less effective than others).

–>Democrats seem to be trying to sell their point of view by saying we should just do what President Pelosi President Obama wants us to do, because she he won and if we don’t listen to her him it will be catastrophic.

(Using the politics of fear to push a bill no one in Congress has read. Is this the Patriot Act V2.0?)

So far, the Republican spin war seems to be the one that’s the most effective…at least for now. I never underestimate my side’s ability to screw things up to a fair thee well.

My feeling on FSA09 remains the same – Democrats think the bill is the cat’s pajamas, Republicans think it stinks in ice. If the Democrat party thinks this bill is going to stimulate the economy, and I know how much it ruins their day to know that there are people who have a different opinion than them, they should just man up and vote for it without expecting to use Republicans as a human shield.

As we say on the streets, nut up or shut up.
