The GOP: We Ain’t Dead Yet

Buck up, little campers. Yeah, having three GOP senators sell us out and watching the crap sandwich the kids are calling the Great Fiscal Suicide Act of 2009 (aka “stimulus”) take one step closer to becoming law kinda sucks, but as Monty Python once told us, “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.”

The House GOP held the line, and even had ten forward thinking Democrats willing to cross the isle and vote with us. And outside of the three sell outs, the Senate stood together where even cats like Lindsey Graham who are always looking for a bi-partisan compromise stood his ground.

And most importantly, the grass roots are fired up…which is a long ways away from the nut shot we took in November. The GOP is starting to find its voice again, as was written in recent articles from the Washington Post and the Examiner. Here’s what people are saying:

“We’re so far ahead of where we thought we’d be at this time. It’s not a sign that we’re back to where we need to be, but it’s a sign that we’re beginning to find our voice. We’re standing on our core principles, and the core principle that suffered the most in recent years was fiscal conservatism and economic liberty. That was the tallest pole in our tent, and we took an ax to it, but now we’re building it back.” - Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI)

“What transpired…and will give us a shot in the arm going forward is that we are standing up on principle and just saying no.” - Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA)

“Instead of hanging our heads, we’re picking good fights. In that regard, there is an energy among Republicans that is counterintuitive to the beating we just took.” - Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC)

The Examiner’s Byron York also had this to add:

“And it’s not just on Capitol Hill. I talked to a lot of outside-the-Beltway Republicans in the days after the election, and they were surprisingly upbeat….they couldn’t bear the Obama worship they saw nearly everywhere during the transition. So for a while after the election, many conservatives who are normally news junkies just tuned out. Not watching the news or reading the papers made them feel better.

“Now, fired up by the stimulus, they’ve reconnected. According to A.C. Nielsen, Fox News Channel was up 23 percent in total viewers in the two weeks after the inauguration, compared to the two weeks before. In the same period, CNN was up just 5 percent, and MSNBC was down 1 percent. While you can’t conclude too much from that – research shows that Fox has a pretty diverse audience, with more Democratic viewers than CNN has Republican viewers – it’s clear Republicans are no longer averting their eyes. They’re in a good fight, and they like it.”

So what does all this have to do with the price of tea in China? Simply, we’re only three weeks into the Obama Presidency. Was there any point over the past few months (since it was clear John McCain was going to lose back in September) when you thought we’d be this unified, this fired up, and this itching for a fight…this early?

There are going to be other losses. The media is going to try and guilt us with the word “bi-partisan” and claim that every time we disagree with Dear Leader is going to be the end of the party. If we say tastes great, we’re going to be accused of being obstructionist against less filling. They’ll be claiming our demise everyday of the week, and twice on Sunday. Whatever.

As long as we continue to stand on principle and stand together, as we have over the past few weeks, it’s all going to be okay.

Bring on the next fight!

    “We aint dead yet”? LOL

While your GOP senators are crying on the Senate floor (Sen. Graham) acting like a 6 year old, and Senator Sessions pulls out his Taliban handbook—your President Obama was miles ahead of you,

This is what losing at chess looks like – while you are not realizing it, all avenues for escape and for counterattack are blocked off and made useless. There is nothing left to do but to submit gracefully. Get used to it.

Surrender? Submit? These are not American traits. As long as there is a single pawn left on the board the Chess game is not over.

Here’s my suggestion. Snowe and Collins have sold out America and unwittingly sold out the people from the State of Maine. Do we really want to bring them around? Then let’s do as the DEMS do. Send a letter to the Governor of Maine, Collins, and Snowe. The message will be plain and simple. Either rejoin the Republican ranks or there will be a Nationwide boycott of any/all Maine products and services until we bring your economy to its knees. Simple.

HAHA…right. Get real, Maine has no economy… a good example of socialism as its greatest. Maine is the perfect example of a basket case liberal-governed economy.
