Is South Park the Most Moral Show On TV?

I love South Park. Trey Parker and Matt Stone are literally the only two people in my life that has yet to disappoint me. Literally, every episode, including the ones that are less hysterical than the others, always have at least one moment that cause me to laugh so hard I’m not sure I’ll survive, and in the case of “Imaginationland” or “Cartman has AIDS,” I almost didn’t (and I’m not just sure aboot that, I’m HIV positive).

So I watched the new episode this week on the Jonas Brothers. I don’t know much aboot them other then the fact that I think they suck, one of them dated Taylor Swift, and seeing Mickey Mouse beat the crap out of them is one of those moments I almost didn’t survive through. It was hysterical.

But the most moral show ever? Some dude from Time Magazine makes the case…

Using Embryos Without Limit Is Line Too Far

Embryonic stem cell research is where I dissent from some of my favourite Republicans.  I used to own stock in a research facility (before selling everything in September once I realized Obama was going to win) and had a friend who was shocked because “Republicans don’t believe in stem cells.”

First, contrary to what liberals want you to believe, R’s don’t oppose stem cells research. SOME oppose the federal funding on embryonic stem cell research, and even in that case it’s only federal funding and aren’t opposed to private money being used (that was what cats like Mike Huckabee were saying). If people felt that strongly aboot it, they could have taken that tax cut they were offended George Bush gave them and donated it to research. But, whatever.

My feeling has always been that if we’re talking aboot – for lack of a more eloquent word – “materials” that were going to be discarded and destroyed anyway, to not use it if the research could help find a cure for [place disease here], I find that high objectionable. As for the higher “moral” question, to quote our president, that’s above my pay grade.

Charles Krauthammer however had an interesting editorial recently on the very subject…

Mark Sanford to Democrats: Bring It!

“In less than three weeks in office, Obama has collected more than $550,000 in back taxes just from cabinet appointments.” - Gov. Mark Sanford

None of us are entirely sure what he has planned for 2012, but Mark Sanford sure is getting his name out there. The South Carolina Governor has been the most out spoken critic for the crap sandwich some people call stimulus, and is being attacked accordingly just like everyone else who dissent against Dear Leader.

Attacks have ranged from basic partisan bickering to insinuations of racism, and now the Democrat National Committee is getting involved…

“Mark Sanford is putting his personal ambition ahead of the people of South Carolina by cow-towing to the Rush Limbaugh-led, obstructionist wing of the Republican Party,” said Democratic National Committee Communications Director Brad Woodhouse. “Now is not the time to politicize these practical steps to create jobs in South Carolina and across the country. Governor Sanford should stop playing politics and work with leaders from both parties who want to use the economic recovery funds to help create jobs, fix our schools, reform our health care system, make America energy independent, and lay the foundation for long-term growth in the 21st Century.”

Episode V: The Republicans Strike Back

First thing, congrats to Amanda Carpenter, who I steal a lot of my stuff from (properly credited, of course), on her new gig at the Washington Times. :-)

If you’re like me, and if you’re reading this, I can only assume we at least share similar political leanings, hearing the media say that the Republicans only say no and have no ideas, while ignoring all the Republicans who have plenty of ideas, makes you want to wild out and get violent. Contrary to popular opinion, having an idea that differs from what Dear Leader thinks doesn’t mean you don’t have one.

Apparently the Republicans are mad as hell aboot this too and aren’t going to take it any more. How mad are they? They held not one but TWO different press conferences to say so…
