Tom Coburn Hearts the Huffington Post?

There have been a number of articles recently concerning the Obama Campaign Administrations government run public option to socialize health care…ok, so I’m not quite sure what we’re calling in these days, other than the more I read aboot it the more I think it su-diddly-ucks. I guess I should be open minded as Dear Leader says and not let people scare me into listening into a different opinion than his, but there’s a little voice in the back of my head that keeps telling me when he says I’ll be able to keep my current plan and doctor if I want to, that little voice screams, “BULLSHIT!”

One rather shocking article really jumped out at me, and that was from Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK). Senator, or should I say Dr. Coburn, writing aboot healthcare isn’t all that shocking. He’s one of our most principled conservatives and a co-author of the “Patient’s Choice Act,” the Republican alternative the media ignores when the say the Republican’s have no alternative. No, what made the Coburn editorial shocking was than it was in the Huffington Post.

Yes, that Huffington Post.

Sen. Coburn took the pages of HuffPo to lay out why our plan rules and Obamacare su-diddly-ucks. So sayeth the good doctor…

[VIDEO] Palin to America “Told You So”

I know I said a few posts ago that I was done talking aboot Sarah Palin…but you’re never actually done talking aboot Sarah Palin. Just when you think we might actually get to focus on other potential leaders, she shows up on “Hannity” throwing a few bombs in the direction of the Obama Campaign Administration. Some highlights…

“Well, when you consider that the federal government is about eleven trillion dollars in debt, and we’re borrowing more to spend more.. it defies any sensible economic policy that any of us ever learned through college. It defies economy practices and principles that tell ya ‘you gotta quit digging that hole when you are in that financial hole.’ America is digging a deeper hole and how are we paying for this government largesse. We’re borrowing. We’re borrowing from China and we consider that now we own sixty percent of GENERAL MOTORS – or the U.S. government does… But who is the U.S. government becoming more indebted to? It’s China. So that leads you to have to ask who is really going to own our car industry than in America.”

“That’s how I feel! I feel like… and I think that more and more constituents are going to open their eyes now and open their ears to hear what is really going on and realize ok… Maybe we didn’t have a good way of expressing that, or articulating that message of ‘here is what America could potentially become if we grow government to such a degree that we cannot pay for it and we have to borrow money from other countries, some countries that don’t necessarily like America. And this many months into the new administration, quite disappointed, quite frustrated with not seeing those actions to rein in spending, slow down the growth of government. Instead Sean it is the complete opposite. It’s expanding at such a large degree that if Americans aren’t paying attention, unfortunately our country could evolve into something that we do not even recognize.”

15 Reasons Why Obamacare Su-Diddly-Ucks

So the next fight we eCon’s need to gear up for is when it comes to Obamacare. Of course had journalism not died last year we’d be able to have an honest debate about the merits of free market vs. privatized health care, but since MSNBC and the NY Times will get their marching orders from the Obama campaign to say the words “Rush Limbaugh” as a distraction, we need to look out for ourselves.

Heritage had a good post on the Republican plan the media is ignoring we have, US News & World Report lists all the details we need from Dear Leader before he tries to ram it through congress, and the gals at Smart Girl Politics even set up a war room. You might even want to read Tom Daschle’s “Critical” where he openly admits the best way for D’s to take over the health industry is to sneak in on budget bills to avoid a debate on the floor…because what possible reason would you want to debate something this major?

There’s also the part aboot how we should cut back on experimental treatments, which hits a little close to home because had it not been for experimental cancer treatments ten years ago, my mother would be dead.

But if you only read one article on health care today, make it Keith Hennessey’s, “Understanding the Kennedy health care bill.” He lists the fifteen things you need to know. Some highlights…

Nassau County Conservative Chaos

I know there are more exciting stories coming out of New York today, but this one is in my own backyard and since I was planning on writing it anyway…

Two weeks ago, I attended a meeting of the local conservative club. Their guest speaker was Ed Mangano, a Long Island legislator who is running to be county executive. Since all I remember aboot the last guy the R’s ran was that his commercials made me want to shoot my television, I was curious to see what this new cat was like. I walked away impressed.

The meeting started off talking aboot what a good friend Leg. Mangano has been to the conservative party, and how he’s run on the conservative party line for the past seven terms (14 years) as a county legislator. Then I got to hear from a guy with a strong business background and an understanding of how the economy works, who nailed every question thrown at him. Considering that the county has been falling apart while our current county executive day dreams of Albany, Ed Mangano at least to me sounds like the type of leader any conservative would get behind.

With Apologies to Mitt Romney (No. 1 in a Series)

“It’s a very stark difference, and I think you’re going to find philosophically the American people will recognize that the bailouts, that the growth of government, is the wrong course for America and instead the principles of the Republican Party will keep America stronger with a brighter future.” - Gov. Mitt Romney

I’ve written this blog post before and have the sinking suspicion I’ll be writing it more than a few times over the course of the next few years, so we’ll call this the first in the series. This is where Mitt Romney gives an interview, pens an editorial, or says anything that makes all of us who hated on him in 2008 feel really, really fucking stupid.

This blog post is actually a two-fer. The first half is the economy, the obvious reason why M-Ro would have been the man to have for a candidate. Imagine if after Sept. 15th we had Mitt Romney as a candidate schooling Obama in the debates on the economy (unlike John McCain), not being afraid to fight back (again, unlike John McCain), and with both Michigan and New Hampshire to play with on the electoral map. Sure, Obama probably would have still one since change was coming and we are the change we’ve been waiting for and ch-ch-ch-changes (turn to face the strange) ch-ch-changes, but it would have been a hell of a lot closer and left us in better shape of a party.

But complaining aboot the 2008 elections is so…well, 2008. Let’s look at 2009. While many (too many IMHO) on our side look at Government Motors and screams “Socialism, fool!” Imagine if more of our leaders could speak on what should have been done, and what should be done, with GM like Romney…

And now, a message from Ronald Reagan

(H/T to the boss for loaning me her copy of “Ronald Reagan: Rendezvous with Destiny”)

“This is our challenge, and this is why here in this hall tonight, better than we’ve ever done before, we have to quit talking to each other and about each other, and go out and communicate to the world that we might be fewer in numbers than we’ve ever been, but we carry the message they are waiting for. We must go forth from here united, determined, that what a great general said a few years ago is true, ‘There is no substitute for victory.’
