Pete King Goes Apeshit

Rep. Pete King (R-NY) gave an interview to Politico.com regarding the Obama Administration Eric Holder opening an investigation of CIA interrogators. I’m going to post snippets without commentary, except to say it’s days like these that make me proud to call Pete King my congressman…

“It’s bulls***. It’s disgraceful. You wonder which side they’re on,” he said of the attorney general’s move, which he described as a “declaration of war against the CIA, and against common sense. It’s a total breach of faith, and either the president is intentionally caving to the left wing of his party or he’s lost control of his administration,” said King, the ranking Republican on the House Committee on Homeland Security and a member of the House Select Committee on Intelligence.

Rudy Giuliani, NY Turns its Lonely Eyes to You

It’s been frustrating over the past few months to see cats announce their candidacy for 2010 that get me fired up more than anyone in my home state of New York. Whether it’s John Kasich in Ohio, Marco Rubio in Florida, Peter Schiff in Connecticut, or Pat Toomey in Pennsylvania, you have all these candidates I can really get behind while New York dont give me nothing but a senate shut down. Hopefully that’s aboot to change because, at least as of yesterday, Rudy Giuliani might finally be announcing his run for governor.

Recent polls have him destroy our current Governor David Patterson, and only behind seven points against his most likely opponent AG Andrew Cuomo…which isn’t the end of the world considering it’s over a year away and neither candidate has announced yet. Cuomo would be a tough opponent, especially considering how blue NY is and that both the five boroughs and the Democrat Party are a wholly own subsidiary of the labor unions.

But, it would appear Giuliani may have found his opening…

Paul Ryan, Mothers, and Cancer

Originally I was going to blog aboot a post I saw on Redstate.com on how the former community organizer was sending his government run campaign organization called “Organizing for America” to astroturf one of Rep. Paul Ryan’s town hall meetings this week (all things the White House accused and/or attacked Republicans for doing), but when I read he had three today without incident I figured…meh.

Instead, there was one thing he said that hits home for me whenever Democrat health care reform comes up. He went through the basic greatest hits, such as…

Ryan spent considerable time taking on Democratic Party assertions that people could retain their current coverage if they want, and that a new “public option” would provide welcome competition with private insurers. Quoting information he said was provided to a congressional committee, Ryan predicted a massive dislocation of workers into the public option because many private employers would discontinue offering coverage. And even though private insurers would face competition from the government, the fight would not be fair because of built-in advantages for government, Ryan said. The result, he contended: “The private sector will go away.”

Then, while knocking down “incorrect insinuations” about HR 3200 he offered a personal anecdote when the topic of “rationing” came up…

Take Your “Party of No” and Shove it Up Your [Bad Word]

The message of the week, as I’ve mentioned a few times on this blog, is pointing out that for all kvetching the D’s do aboot the R’s, it doesn’t change the fact that they own the White House, the Senate, Congress, NBC News, the New York Times and everything else in Washington outside of Fox News. Yet, this doesn’t stop folks from going back to the old reliable “party of no” and claiming the R’s have no ideas of our own even though I know we do, they know we do, yet claim we don’t anyway because they know that if they lie, NBC News will swear by it.

I also have issue with the “party of no” in the first place. For starters, concerning the Democrat party for the past few years (especially ’06-’08 when they were in control), I know you are but what am I? But also, there’s nothing wrong with saying no. One side produces legislation that you feel is bad for America and won’t listen to any of your ideas, what else is there to say besides no?

And much like when the D’s were the “party of no,” it seems to be working for us so far. So sayeth Fred Barnes…

Newt to Congress: “Are You People F’ing Kidding Me?”

You knew the Democrats were desperate when they went from “heath care reform” to “health insurance reform” and doing what they do best – demagoguery of a private industry, in this cases the insurance companies. But now they’re just getting ridiculous.

Rep’s Henry Waxman (D-CA) and Bart Stupak (D-MI), sent a letter to the largest health insurance companies demanded “…detailed information from health insurance companies about executive pay, corporate conferences and retreats, and other business practices,” among a list of other personal information. Apparently the new Democrat plan is to manufacture outrage the same way folks were outraged when “bailed out” companies were paying out bonuses…that the Democrats in Congress who have been in charge for the past three years let happen.

Leave it to Newt Gingrich to put these two on blast. He also through out a few ideas for health care reform that the White House lies to the American people aboot claiming we don’t have…
