Gingrich: “Won’t Anybody Please Think of the Children?”

Democrats are really good with sob stories. That’s not to say that there aren’t horror stories with people’s health care, which is why regardless of what President Obama wants you to believe, conservatives don’t think the status quo is acceptable either. But for every story aboot how the health care industry has failed someone, there’s another where it hasn’t.

There’s a story aboot a woman who was diagnosed with breast cancer. Her personal physician got her an appointment with a specialist right away, and they settle on an experimental treatment designed to cure her of cancer. Ten years later, she’s still cancer free. None of that may have been possible if the Democrats got to live out their soggy dreams of a single-payer system where the government is in full control.

Newt Gingrich recently highlighted another example where the health care industry worked…

Actually, Obama Does Kinda Lie (No. 6 in a Series)

Remember, it is wrong to call the President a liar. You can’t say that “he lies” or that he’s “intellectually dishonest.” That’s the worst thing you can possibly say, so much worse than the Democrat leadership calling private citizens “un-American” and “evil.” Dissent against Dear Leader shall not be tolerated, even if some of his promises concerning health care reform might not be entirely “true.”

Hey, don’t look at me! This is the mainstream media saying this.

Of course, common sense would say that you can’t created a new trillion dollar entitlement without raising taxes on everybody, and not just those evil-monger who make more money than you. But setting aside that, there are a few other promises that are a bit of a noodle scratcher. The Associated Press highlights alleged “savings” to the tune of $2,000,000,000,000.00…

Pataki to Obama: “Welcome to New York, Sparky”

It bothers me that we don’t have a declare opponent for Kristen Gillibrand yet, especially after last week when she was one of seven Senators who voted AGAINST defunding ACORN (after that whole child prostitution expose thingy). The former “blue dog” is now openly bragging aboot being a new voice for progressives (::cough::poseur::cough::), and is vulnerable no matter how much the President gets involved.

The longtime rumoured opponent for her is former Gov. George Pataki, but so far the rumors have been just that. He’s “still thinking aboot it,” and I don’t know if recent polling that has him beating her is helping his decision, he seemed more than willing to give the response to President Obama’s visit to Troy (what) on Monday.

So sayeth the former Governor and possibly future Senator…

Tom Suozzi Doesn’t Like You

I usually focus more on the national issue for the broad appeal, but every so often something happens in my backyard that I feel the need to opine on.

Our county executive is a cat named Tom Suozzi. He won reelection in 2005…at which point he started to immediately run for Governor in a failed primary challenge to Elliot Spitzter (remember that guy?), and ever since has been considered to be daydreaming aboot statewide office (recent examples here, here, and here).

Now, I’m willing to bet that there are more than a few politicians that are more focused on their own career than they are their constituents (the Save Nassau blog will clue you into just how unfocused he is on Nassau County), even while they run for re-election, much like how Suozzi is doing right now.

That said, someone brought my attention to the 5 Towns Jewish Times (a belated L’Shana Tova).

Paul Ryan: “It’s Time to Man Up!”

I enjoyed this past summer watching the Democrats implode, and have been equally entertained this past week or so that they formed a circular firing squad around BaucusCare (aka, the bill formerly known as ObamaCare). When you own the White House, Congress, the Senate, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and NBC News, yet still can’t force your agenda on people…blame Glen Beck as much as you want, you just suck at life.

That said, while we’ve sat back powerless (which we are, regardless of how many straw men Dear Leader tries to set up), now that Congress is back in session it’s time to nut up and push one or two of the thirty-two different health care reforms we’ve introduce in the House. You and I both know we have the right message. Our messengers, on the other hand, could use some work.

And to that I have two words that I’ve echoed on this blog a lot: Paul Ryan. Actually, it should be five words if I throw in “Congressman from Wisconsin,” but I’m sure you’re picking up what I’m throwing down. Rep. Ryan recently took to the pages of his local newspaper…

Romney on Foreign Policy: “Frailty, thy name is Obama!”

Foreign policy is a difficult issue to follow from the cheap seats. Domestic policy is easier. It still takes work, but you can read up on it, watch a little of the news, apply everything to your own life, and form an opinion. Foreign policy is more difficult, because there’s not only a lot out there you don’t know, I’m sure there’s a lot out there you don’t want to know.

So I cut the President (any President) some slack, even if when I watch the news nothing he seems to be doing makes any sense. If you’re planning on running against the President in a few years, you don’t cut him slack on anything. Such was the case with former Governor and JBdotC fav Mitt Romney speaking to the Foreign Policy Initiative recently.

Here is JBdotC Chief Washington Correspondent George Stephanopoulos with more…
