Chris Christie, the tea party, and more “common sense porn”
The latest goodie from NJ Gov. Chris Christie concerns the NJ-3 and the recent Republican nominee John Runyan who a) is a former Philadelphia Eagle, and b) wasn’t the preferred candidate of the tea party. I know, right?
This is actually something Christie is familiar with because when he ran for Governor in 2009, he wasn’t the favorite of the tea party either (who we used to just call “conservative”), yet he made the case to first the Republican Party and then the people of New Jersey. Now the Governor who was the 2nd favourite candidate of conservatives has turned into the latest conservative rock star, dropping more video hits than Kanye.
Now it’s another Republicans turn to be 2nd favourite. Gov. Chris Christie has one simple reason why the Tea Party should back Runyan. Simply put, remember who the real enemy is here (quote lifted from Cubachi)…
“He’s got a record that I am still cleaning up the mess that John Adler left in Trenton with John Corzine and Jim McGreevy.”
Aaron Proctor adds this on Adler:
“Adler has a ton of worries. He’s raised taxes immensely and is the next target in a movement toward ousting Democrats and incumbents, although he hasn’t been a Congressman for very long.”
Admittedly, I don’t have much personal interest in the NJ-3. I live in the NY-3 where we’ve been under Pete King’s jurisdiction since 1992. It’s the bigger debate we seem to have over tea parties vs. establishment and who the really realer conservative is. Let’s remember the real enemy: Nancy Pelosi’s Congress.
Primaries are healthy, but the election is over. John Runyan and from what I’ve been reading, he’s a hell of a lot better than John Adler. To those who supported his opponent…he’s got two years to prove your criticisms wrong. If he doesn’t? Don’t send him back to Washington.
But let’s get together and make sure that he (and other candidates) get those two years in the first place.
Well said, John. I would think all coservatives who had doubts about Chris Christie have been won over.
Yeah, and I think a lot of the “vote for my guy or i’ll stay home in November” is BS posturing.
And Lord knows the last thing we need in Washington are more RiNO’s, but that’s also why if he lets us down we can vote him out in two years.
