Chris Christie Privatizes New Jersey

I know I speak for my fellow New York conservatives that we’re looking to what Chris Christie is doing in New Jersey as somewhat of a science project to see how conservative governing and ideas will play in a deep blue state. The theory is that tax payers are tired of the Democrats selling them out to the Big Labor, it might be time for…wait for it…change.

Much like that great New Yorker Crazy Eddie, could Crazy Christie have done gone too far this time? A task force was formed to develop recommendations on how the state could save money for the tax payers and help reduce the state budget. Their findings have been submitted to the Governor and their report sits on his desk.

In a word? Privatize

Random Thoughts: Democrats Heart Wall Street

I’ve blogged aboot the Democrat Party (and unfortunately, some in my own) demonizing anyone who as held a job on Wall Street a) because we have two great Republican candidates in Harry Wilson and David Malpass who both have Wall Street experience, and b) as a New Yorker we need the revenue Wall Street makes in order to fix the billions of dollars in debt the state is in. All demonzing the people making the money does is drive them and their businesses to New Jersey and Connecticut.

That’s why I found this article amusing aboot a pro-Wall Street DEMOCRAT who is running a primary challenge in the NY-14, and being attack by liberal activists like Chris Matthews for it. There was one line I particularly liked:

“I’m not pro- or anti- Wall Street, I’m pro-New York City”

She probably won’t unseat the incumbant, so I would encourage my fellow NY Republicans to steal that.

VIDEO: Joe Scarborough Agrees with Ann Coulter on Afghanistan

“For too long you have had John McCain and you’ve had Bill Kristol, Lindsey Graham and Joe Lieberman define what it meant to be a Republican when it came to foreign policy. When, in fact, historically, the Republican Party has usually been for restraint. They’re accused of isolationists in the past and seems like a small group of people want to fight every war at every corner of the planet and not good for the party … This is a very important op-ed that Ann Coulter wrote yesterday.”

Karl Rove to the GOP: It’s the Economy, Stupid v2.0

“Some will argue this set of issues isn’t entirely new. But efficacy matters more than novelty.”

While President Obama’s 36% approval rating amongst independent voters is promising, I’m in the camp of Republicans concerned that people aren’t voting for us as much as they are against them. This is where, as discussed before, we need fresh ideas and a fresh approach to politics.

But what aboot our standard ideas with a fresh approach to delivering the message?

Most people reading this blog already think we have the better ideas. The rub is how we let Democrats get away with their class warfare junk, “tax cuts for the rich,” and manipulating voters into thinking anyone who has more money than you is evil and corrupt. We need to do a better job explaining to people with “narratives” and explain how the policies affect the voter’s everyday lives.
