Memo to the GOP: Learn How To Talk to My Mother

“About 98% of blog-based political analysis begins with the assumption that the average voter is similar to the blogger.” - Jim Geraghty

I think the consensus amongst the blogosphere, whether you are on the side of the Senate or the House, is that the GOP managed to screw up the payroll tax cut debate to a fair thee well. You would think this would be an easy one. We were getting a decision on the Keystone XL pipeline, weren’t raising taxes on successful people, and taking away the Democrat talking point aboot not working together.

Instead, we botched things up and managed to make President Class Warfare look like a tax cutter while we want to hike everyone’s taxes. How do I know this? Because of my mom and all the women in my office asking me, “Why are Republicans raising my taxes?”

Oh Noes! Obama’s Poll #’s are Up! What the Shit are We Gonna Do?

People are making a big brou-ha-ha because President Obama’s poll number went up this week, after months and months and months and months and month and months of bad numbers. Um, they do this every so often. A week will go by when he’ll get some good numbers, usually by polls conducted by news outlets that skew the sampling data to the towards the Democrats. Sorry, but Dems do not have a ten point advantage over Republicans.

Either way, we’re allegedly supposed to be concerned because this week of polling means that everything Republicans are doing is wrong, we’re screwed in 2012, and we should just do everything the President wants whenever he wants because that’s what NBC news and the NY Times say is the true spirit of compromise.

I want everyone to remember three things:

Top 5 Songs of 2011: #1. “Keep Me in Mind” by Zac Brown Band

Anyone who knows me can’t be shocked that a Zac Brown Band song is my number one song of the year. I’ve bonded with so many different groups of friends over ZBB over the past twelve months, and once I got a hold “Keep Me in Mind” it was easily my favourite song from their last album.

It’s fun, puts me in a happy place, and I’ve taken to calling in my own personal anthem.

So after counting down Song #5 (Toby Keith), #4 (Bruno Mars), #3 (Taylor Swift), and #2 (Taking Back Sunday), your #1 song of the year…

Sen. Lee Zeldin’s Victory Rally: Repeal the MTA Tax

Where a freshman state senator from The L.I. shows DC Republicans how to take a victory when you get one, and move on to the next battle…

Carl Kruger is Old and Busted, David Storobin is the New Hotness

You know, if we didn’t have a special election in New York every few months, none of us would know what to do with ourselves. And now that disgraced Democrat Sen. Carl Kruger has made the disgraced part official by resigning from office, it’s time to introduce y’all to David Storobin.

Actually, I’ll let his Facebook page introduce him for me…

David Storobin is a Vice-Chair of the Republican Party in Brooklyn and a partner at the prominent law firm of Storobin & Spodek, LLP where he practices Family law. A zealous fighter for individuals’ rights, David is well-respected by the Bar for his oral advocacy skills and professionalism. He is an outspoken advocate for his community, giving speeches, writing articles and expressing his views. David is also a Vice-Chairman of the Brooklyn Republican Party – and one of the youngest members in the leadership.

Game on.

I Don’t Give a F*** About Greg Ball’s Facebook Page

I’m admittedly a fan of Sen. Greg Ball, but this is still possibly the dumbest story of the year, even as far as New York politics go. Long story short, apparently Sen. Ball (or someone on his staff) deleted a comment from a constituent from his Facebook page and blocked her, and she’s been whining aboot being censored ever since.

Never mind the fact that I’m not sure how much taxpayer money is being spent on a free service like Facebook, and never mind the fact that I recently criticized her on one of her supporters Facebook pages and had my comment deleted…it’s f’n Facebook. Did the Senator or his staff overreact? Probably.

But whining aboot it and crying to the media doesn’t make me feel sorry for you or take you seriously.

And if anyone is still curious aboot watching a Greg Ball related video…
