Top 5 Songs of 2011: #2. “You Got Me” by Taking Back Sunday

I had mentioned “You Got Me” in my rambling over the bands self titled album being my album of the year, and the guitar licks are still pretty sweet. But lyrically is where the song really grabbed me.

They were aboot, at least according to my translation, the people you rely on when you’re at your darkest, and being that person for someone else. Anyone who knows me personally and/or just follows along on teh Internets knows that 2011 wasn’t particularly enjoyable, and I find myself being the one relying on others mopre so that usual. More than any other song this year, on a personaly level, this one…well, got me.

Of course the band went in a different direction for the video…

[VIDEO] Gov. Chris Christie on “Morning Joe”

Ah. I see Mitt Romney surrogate Chris Christie went on “Morning Joe” this morning to remind us all again why we prefer him to Mitt Romney.

Jon Huntsman Pulls Into FIRST PLACE in New Hampshire

That’s what you may have read had Jon Huntsman ran a smarter campaign, or at the very least hired smarter people. Let me ‘splain…

I know many in the media like to focus on Erick Erikson’s “conversion” to Jon Huntsman as a truuuuue conservative candidate. From a recent column:

Don’t Settle for Rick Perry

A lot of cats in the blogosphere have been coming out with endorsements of Rick Perry lately, but I’m not seeing it. What’s sad is that I really wanted to.

I know about the record, about the job growth and the tort reform. I know that he’s a strong advocate for the tenth amendment. I know that everyone I know who lives in Texas brags aboot what a great governor. Here’s the rub though: I only know these things because of my friends who live in Texas. Rick Perry has shown no ability whatsoever to communicate those things himself.

Top 5 Songs of 2011: #3. “Ours” by Taylor Swift

Haters gonna hate, but I’m still a big Taylor Swift fan. This song blew me away when she performed it at the CMA’s awards, both in her song writing as well as the performance. The line “Don’t you worry your pretty little mind/People throw rocks at things that shine” is my favourite lyrics of the year.

I also like that, in a genre full a pop tarts, she gives young girls an option of someone with talents and a level head to lookj up to. With my baby sister giving me a baby niece next year, that matters to me more than it normally would.

So because I’m a big enough fan, you get two videos: the official one, and the live performance from the CMA’s.
