UFC 118 Predictions: Edgar vs. Penn 2

The UFC is shipping off to Boston this Saturday, headline by a rematch between Frankie Edgar and BJ Penn for the lightweight title. Edgar shocked everyone by defeating the champ in the first place? Can he do it again? More importantly, can I break at least .500 with predictions this time?

PRELIMINARY CARD
I like Joe Lauzon over Gabe Reudiger and Andre Winner over Nik Lentz

UNDERCARD
I’m sure Demian Maia wants to make up for his now infamous loss to Anderson Silva. Because of that, I see him beating Mario Miranda.

It hasn’t been announce as a “#1 Contenders Fight,” but you can easily see the winner of Kenny Florian vs. Gray Maynard fighting the winner of the main event. This fight should be close, but I find it difficult to ever vote against Florian. I see “Ken Flo” earning his THIRD title shot.

UFC 117 Predictions: Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen

Anderson Silva upset a lot of people – and his boss – in his last fight. Chael Sonnen is a fighter who, from what we’re being told, won’t allow any boredom or show boating from Silva. Your UFC 117 predictions begin now!

UNDERCARD
The Jon Fitch vs. Thiago Alves is the one I’m most looking forward to. Fitch beat Alves in their first fight, but Alves isn’t the same fighter he was then. He also hasn’t fought since recently under going brain surgery. I’m still going to take Alves here, most likely setting uo Alves vs. Fitch III as the main event of an Ultimate Fight Night some time next year.

Clay Guida vs. Rafael Dos Anjos is a coin toss, and one where Guida beat Anjos six time to four. Yes, I actually flip a coin. Guida wins.

UFC 116 Predictions

We’re a week away from UFC 116: Lesnar vs. Carwin, and I think I’m ready to make my predictions. Feel free to leave a comment and tell me how much I suck and that I know nothing aboot the mixed martial arts. I love it when people do that!

PRELIMINARY
I like Brendan Schaub over Chris Tuchscherer and Seth Petruzelli over Ricardo Romero.

UNDERCARD
I’ll take George Sotiropoulos over Kurt Pellegrino. Ever since Sotiropoulos has left training in Long Island for Las Vegas, he’s looked great.

Stephan Bonnar vs. Krzysztof Soszynski is a rematch from their first fight that Soszynski won after an accidental headbutt that bust Bonner open. I’m still going to take Soszynski. Save for the Brandon Vera fight, he’s looked great since appearing on The Ultimate Fighter.

UFC 116: Who’s Gonna Win, Brock Lesnar or Shane Carwin?

Okay, so I’m torn and I have a week to make my prediction.

On one hand, I am a HUGE Brock Lesnar fan and think the “real” MMA fans who sleep on him or whine that hes not a real fighter…whatever. Shut up. The way he wrecked Frank Mir and Randy Couture looked pretty real to me.

On the other hand, Shane Carwin is undefeated in twice as many fights as Lesnar has had. He also ha Greg Jackson training him, and I never root against Jackson’s fighters.

Who do you think is going to win? Leave your prediction in the comment section.

UFC 115 Predictions: Chuck Liddell vs. Rich Franklin

It was originally supposed to be Chuck Liddell vs. Tito Ortiz. Instead, we have Chuck Liddell vs. Rich Franklin after Ortiz had to leave “The Ultimate Fighter.” There are a bunch more matches on the card. Let’s get it on!

PRELIMS
I’ll take Evan Dunham because he’s undefeated, and Matt Wiman just because I really hate his opponent Mac Danzig.

UNDERCARD
The Carlos Condit vs. Rory MacDonald fight is the one I’m most looking forward to, because I’ve been slowly becoming a fan of both fighters. Condit was undefeated in the WEC and I personally think he should have won the fight against Martin Kampmann, but I just can’t see MacDonald losing his undefeated record in his home county of Canada. Rory wins it what should be a really good fight.

UFC 114 Predictions

UFC 114. The Greatest Grudge Match in UFC History. Rashad Evans vs. Rampage Jackson. Never before in the history of the UFC…and so on and so on.

To start, I like Amir Sadollah and Efrain Escudero in their preliminary fights (against Dong Hyun Kim and Dan Lauzon respectively).

Moving on to the main card, I like Diego Sanchez over John Hathaway. I’m not that familiar with Hathaway and I don’t know how Sanchez being decimated recently by former champ BJ Penn is going to effect his fighting. However, I make it a point not to go against “the Nightmare.”

I’m unfamiliar with either Todd Duffee or Mike Russow, but Russow has the most experience so I’ll take him.

For my upset pick of the night, give me Jason Brilz over Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. I’ve never heard of Brilz before, but am betting on the PRIDE curse overwhelming “Lil’ Nog.”
