Marc Molinaro for Dutchess County Executive

I’ve mentioned before – and I say this as not only the voice, but also the heart and soul of the NY State Young Republicans –one of the worst kept secrets is how much we love Assemblyman Marc Molinaro. The running gag is to never refer to him as “Assemblyman” and instead choose words like “Congressman,” “Senator,” and “Governor.”

The second word broke that the current County Executive of Dutchess is retiring, the “Draft @marcmolinaro” tweets started to go out…which is why it’s more than a little bit of teh awesome to read that he’s “mulling it over.” On a recent episode of “The Right Hook” we had declared Dutchess to be the YR capital of New York, so it would only make sense that our “chairman” runs it.

It’s funny though, because we had just had our state meeting in Dutchess County a week or two ago where Molinaro spoke. Earlier that afternoon in the business meeting, they had talk aboot my experience at CPAC where I had said my favourite speech was Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels. What made it memorable for me wasn’t so much what he said as much as it was the friends from Indiana I was watching it with, and seeing them literally beaming with pride for their Governor.

Meet the Future of the NY GOP: Marc Molinaro

One of the worst kept secrets is how much the Young Republicans love Marc Molinaro. The joke with my boss and peerless leader Lynn Krogh (Bon Jovi to my Sambora) is that she’s the chair of the Draft Marc Molinaro for (Place Higher Office Here) PAC. Right now I think we have him down for County Executive, though I still like the way Sen. Molinaro sounds…and I don’t mean state senator. We still need someone to run against Kristen Gilligan.

(Type Gillibrand in your Blackberry and it spell checks the name as Gilligan. Who am I to argue with my Smartphone?)

For now, I think he’s busy enough with his current gig as the #2 Republican in the Assembly, plus Gov. Cuomo (who sounds like he’s going to be a great Republican Governor) to take part in his Mandate Relief Redesign Team. But who is Assemblyman Molinaro? Glad you asked…

Can We Take Down Chuck Schumer?

I had suggested #TCOT (Top Conservatives on Twitter) create a “#TCOT Ten Most Wanted List” of the top ten senators/congressman we wanted to take out in 2010. A friend had suggested New York Senator Chuck Schumer be on the list, which I dismissed at first as Schumer seems pretty untouchable (plus to be honest, I don’t have any particular beef with him).

But I was watching “Morning Joe” this morning, and they were talking aboot the Bernie Madoff brou-ha-ha. It was mentioned by Jim Cramer how Chuck Schumer’s campaign’s have been almost entirely funded by Wall Street donations, and that it’s silly to expect someone take as much money from Wall Street as Schumer to ever investigate them.

I got to think, what if we had a young, reform minded, fiscal conservative running a grassroots campaign on that – Schumer isn’t the Senator from the great state of New York, he’s the Senator from Wall Street?
