This week’s was a perfect example, that I think too many people on our side is going to dismiss since Scarborough is a squishy liberal RINO communist, and even worse…he’s quoting Maureen Dowd’s brother. That’s a shame because they lay out a blueprint the GOP should be listening too. The column goes more into detail, but the bullet points…

1. DO NOT INTERFERE WITH YOUR OPPONENT WHEN HE IS ENGAGED IN THE ACT OF DESTROYING HIMSELF.
2. FOCUS ON THE PRESIDENT’S DISMAL RECORD
3. TOTAL VICTORY IS PREFERABLE TO DISEMBOWELMENT

Sounds like common sense but yet it’s not, and this debacle over the payroll tax cut is a perfect example (and one that they brought up). The Senate GOP was extended the payroll tax cut for a few months and had the White House caving on a millionaire’s tax while forcing him to make a decision on the Keystone XL Pipeline and tell the people while he’d rather have to pandered to radical environmentalists than create jobs. His approval was in the toilet. His party was revolting. The GOP was winning and would have been able to go home for the holidays and come back in the New Year to continue the job.

Instead, the House voted down the bill because it didn’t give them everything they wanted, and while I understand all the reasons why a year long extention is better and agree, all it did was make the GOP look petty while the President went Christmas shopping. We let the President off the hook while he was destroying himself, took the focus off of his dismal record and instead put it on how we don’t seem able to communicate amongst ourselves, and would have disemboweled ourselves had people not been focus more on the holidays.

We need to get it together is we’re taking back the Senate and the White House in November.

You can argue that Rudy took things to far with his criticism, but then you bring a White House official on to the show and you let THEM give their side of the story.

Actually reading the talking points on air just prove Giuliani’s point aboot being in the tank for Obama, to the point where it looked like she was auditioning for her own prime time show on the network.

So when HuffPo said something aboot Joe Scarborough running for president, I figured “LOL.” Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge fan of his and “Morning Joe” (even if hate having to watch MSNBC to see it). My biggest influence in being interested in politics was Tim Russert, and Joe and the Gang (Mike, Barnacle, Uncle Pat, etc.) are feel have done their best to kept Russert’s integrity and spirit alive.

But let’s be honest; the left only likes him because he’s the conservative du joir that criticizes other conservatives. If he ever ran as a Republican for anything, they’d turn on him the same way they did John McCain.  However a friend of mine sent me an article from Politico.com that made me think the rumors might be taken a little more seriously…

Some major donors and GOP strategists have approached Joe Scarborough, the host of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” about a national run, according to party sources.

Note the authors of the article, MIKE ALLEN and JIM VANDEHEI. Both have a reoccurring role on “Morning Joe,” so besides having connections within “GOP Party sources” they also have connections with Scarborough himself. Makes you think, don’t it?

He’s turned down national runs before (Florida senate in, I think, 2004) to be with his family, and with a relatively new edition I can’t imagine him picking up to run a long shot campaign for President. Plus, personally speaking, I hope he doesn’t run anyways.

I think his is a voice that our party definitely needs. With the ongoing battle between conservative Republicans and moderate Republicans, I always viewed him (like I do myself) as a moderate conservative. He’s all the conservative with none of the harsh rhetoric, which we need in the media more than anywhere else (especially at the network he’s at now, where they should just start every hour after 11:00 with “I’m Barack Obama and I approve this message”). We need more conservatives who have the freedom to go after the President on the many, many, many substantive issues we’re being handed to go after him on, and not get bogged down with silly nonsense like “birthers” and other conspiracy theories.

We need a guy who is going to let cats like Paul Ryan and Tom Price come on and – without interruption – explain why conservatives have the better plan for our country. If he has Mike Pence on to talk aboot the environment, he and Mike Pence talk aboot the environment, not evolution. We need someone who treats conservatives’ opinions with the same respect the rest in the media treat liberals.

So, while an entertaining rumor, I’m 99.867% sure Joe Scarborough will be staying just where he is.

Though, he would make a great President…

This actually put a big smile on my face when I finally watched it tonight. I get tired of the media talking aboot how Republicans don’t have a plan, while ignoring the Republicans who have a plan.

So I tweeted Joe Scarborough (he’s one of my Twitter friends) last Tuesday…

You say the R’s aren’t presenting a plan. Why not have Rep Ryan on to discuss his recent WSJ editorial aboot his plan?

Joe responded the next day…

Great idea! I need to get Paul on the show. A great conservative.

So I get home from work Tuesday night, hop on the computer to see what I missed (some of us have real jobs to get to), and apparently Rep. Paul Ryan appears on “Morning Joe” and there’s the following exchange…

I rock!

P.S. I realize the video says “Jim Ryan.”  I’m sure the video author is just broken up over it.

But my favourite is Jack Welch.

I’ve always been drawn to the type of “old school” cats who tell you what you need to know regardless of if you want to hear it or not (two of my heroes growing up were Ronald Reagan and Ed Koch), which in the midst of the current economic [place hyperbole here], we need. When Jack Welch is on, I wait an extra ten minutes before I leave to work.

Monday morning, he completely lost his shit. First with TV’s own Mika Brzezinski…

JACK WELCH: This guy is locked in another world. And he’s throwing all these initiatives into this game in the middle of a crisis. Focus on the crisis! Focus on the economy!

MIKA BRZEZINSKI: You could argue all these initiatives are inter-related-energy, health care -

WELCH: Get out of here! They’re not related at all!

BRZEZINSKI: Did he just say that?

WELCH: Right now they’re not related. Right now it’s the economy, Mika. It’s the economy. It’s getting the banks going. It’s a clear message to everybody: all hands on deck. We have a crisis: let’s deal with this. Not one day, carbon tax. One day, take the kids out of the Washington schools. I mean it’s, it’s crazy!

Then he went on to say…

I had cocktail parties this weekend; I stayed in New York. If you even bring up the name Barack Obama and start to go down this [road to criticism] – I love the guy. I think he’s great. I think he has a beautiful family. I think he’s a good man. But these- you bring up a comment about him, and all of a sudden you’re a pariah! You’re not American! You’re a bad guy. If you even bring his name up. My two trust-fund daughters, if I bring his name up in anything other than a glori[fying way]-they don’t have any critical thinking about it at all!

So you can add Mr. Welch to the list of Obama Economic critics including non-ideological Rick Santelli, left-leaning and frequent Bush critic Jim Cramer, and life long Democrat and Obama supporter WARREN F’N BUFFETT.
