Carl Kruger is Old and Busted, David Storobin is the New Hotness

You know, if we didn’t have a special election in New York every few months, none of us would know what to do with ourselves. And now that disgraced Democrat Sen. Carl Kruger has made the disgraced part official by resigning from office, it’s time to introduce y’all to David Storobin.

Actually, I’ll let his Facebook page introduce him for me…

David Storobin is a Vice-Chair of the Republican Party in Brooklyn and a partner at the prominent law firm of Storobin & Spodek, LLP where he practices Family law. A zealous fighter for individuals’ rights, David is well-respected by the Bar for his oral advocacy skills and professionalism. He is an outspoken advocate for his community, giving speeches, writing articles and expressing his views. David is also a Vice-Chairman of the Brooklyn Republican Party – and one of the youngest members in the leadership.

Game on.

I Don’t Give a F*** About Greg Ball’s Facebook Page

I’m admittedly a fan of Sen. Greg Ball, but this is still possibly the dumbest story of the year, even as far as New York politics go. Long story short, apparently Sen. Ball (or someone on his staff) deleted a comment from a constituent from his Facebook page and blocked her, and she’s been whining aboot being censored ever since.

Never mind the fact that I’m not sure how much taxpayer money is being spent on a free service like Facebook, and never mind the fact that I recently criticized her on one of her supporters Facebook pages and had my comment deleted…it’s f’n Facebook. Did the Senator or his staff overreact? Probably.

But whining aboot it and crying to the media doesn’t make me feel sorry for you or take you seriously.

And if anyone is still curious aboot watching a Greg Ball related video…

Harry Wilson for New York 2: Electric Bugaloo

Yes, I went for the hack “Electric Bugaloo” joke. Shut up.

The rumours about Harry Wilson challenging Sen. Kristen Gilligan for her US Senate Seat next year have been floating around for a few months now, most recently the other in the way of a Fred Dicker column in the New York post. Whether or not the rumours are true or not, your guess is as good as mine. The Dan Senor 2010 rumours still sting. But if they are true and Wilson is going to run, I’m in.

Besides all the reasons why he was just what NY (and the GOP) needed in a state wide candidate last year, the most important one is that he proved he can be competitive against the Democrats in a state wide race. Quite frankly, he would be Comptroller Wilson now if the top of our ticket last year were different.

So feel free to go through all my old blog posts on Harry Wilson, scribble out the world “DiNapoli,” and replaced it with “Gilligan.”

That’s Just Who Kirsten Gillibrand is This Week

It’s funny. I have a friend who is as liberal as I am conservative, and we’re always getting into it with each other. When then Congresswoman Kristen Gilligan was appointed Senator, I told my friend, “Leave it to Gov. Paterson to nominate a Democrat I would like more than you to replace Hillary Clinton.”

Gilligan was a pro-gun, small government, tax cutting blue dog Democrat. That is of course, until she became Senator and was “enlightened” by big city liberals. She then started to flip on every position, most notably when it came to guns. After bragging aboot having a shotgun under her bed and having those same “enlightened” big city liberals criticized her for it, a press release went out that the guns were removed.

Now Gilligan, who received an “A” rating from the NRA when she was in Congress, is now proud to be endorsed by gun control advocates. As the NY Post points out, this isn’t the only time she’s been “enlightened” over the past year and a half…

It Begins! Upstate NY Calls on Blakeman to Drop Out

I touched on this a little bit while kibitzing on the NY-1 a few months ago, but as much as I appreciate primaries and honest debate that strengthen the party…money still matters. This is especially true in New York (at least statewide) where starting off with a scarlet letter “R” after your name already starts you at a disadvantage. That said, as of the end of June…

David Malpass – $2,300,000.00 on hand
Bruce Blakeman – $236,247.00 on hand

Que the calls for Blakeman to drop out in 5…4…3…2…

David Malpass on Financial Reform

The most recent poll (I don’t feel like looking it up) showed that more voters would prefer someone other than Kristen Gilligan than they would Kristen Gilligan (hey, that’s what my Blackberry calls her). While voters haven’t warmed up to any of the Republicans running against her yet, it does leave the opportunity. Enter David Malpass.

Some people just don’t like her playing Fozzy the Bear to Chuck Schumer’s Frank Oz, but for me it’s the lack of authenticity. This was the formerly proud, gun totin’ Blue Dog Democrat who upon being “enlightened” by New York City liberals has turned into an allegedly progressive leader. That’s just the type of gal she is this week.

Malpass? He made a lot of money on Wall Street. Instead of pretending he didn’t or playing the role of some faux populist (like others), he embraces it because it’s that experience that the people of New York need, no matter how much the Democrats look to demonizing anyone who makes more money than you.

And it’s that experience that allows him to come out strongly against the President’s alleged “financial reform” and know what he’s talking aboot…
