Pete King Goes Apeshit

Rep. Pete King (R-NY) gave an interview to Politico.com regarding the Obama Administration Eric Holder opening an investigation of CIA interrogators. I’m going to post snippets without commentary, except to say it’s days like these that make me proud to call Pete King my congressman…

“It’s bulls***. It’s disgraceful. You wonder which side they’re on,” he said of the attorney general’s move, which he described as a “declaration of war against the CIA, and against common sense. It’s a total breach of faith, and either the president is intentionally caving to the left wing of his party or he’s lost control of his administration,” said King, the ranking Republican on the House Committee on Homeland Security and a member of the House Select Committee on Intelligence.

[VIDEO]: Pete King, The Survivor

“I think [Pete King]’s one of the greatest public servants and we’re lucky to have him in New York” – fmr NY Mayor Ed Koch

There was a great piece on current NY congressman and (God willing) future senator Pete King in the National Review recently (the gold standard of conservative periodicals – though I’m more of a “Weekly Standard” guy).

As you may have caught on, I’m a huge fan of his. Besides the fact we New York Irish stick together, cats like King I feel are the exact type of pol Republicans need to take back control in the Northeast.

Some money quotes…

2010 Watch: Senator George Pataki?

Well now, this is slightly above average. We’ve all heard aboot NY Congressman Pete King considering a run for the Senate. Apparently there’s another high profile New York pol who is taking it under consideration…former Governor George Pataki.

The leader of the National Republican Senatorial Committee approached former Gov. George E. Pataki this week about running for the United States Senate in 2010, according to a person who spoke to Mr. Pataki about the private meeting.

The person confirmed that Mr. Pataki met on Tuesday in New York City with Senator John Cornyn, a Texas Republican who leads the party’s national Senate campaign committee. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to comment.

Paul Ryan “We’re All Screwed, and Here’s Why”

One of the young guns in congress ready to “break out” if you will is Congressman Paul Ryan (R-WI). Ryan is one of those cats who is always coming up with ideas that the media says Republicans aren’t coming up with (like this and this), and with seats Joint Economic, Ways and Means, and Budget Committees (that last of which he’s ranking member), he’s going to be a valuable player in the upcoming economic/housing/banking/entitlement debates.

You know, all the debates we should be having if weren’t being told it’s the end of the world and there’s no time to do things like “debate” or “hold hearings” or “read a 1,000+ page bill.”

Rep. Ryan recently penned an editorial on just why the “Generational Theft Act” is such a crap sandwich for American families, and it’s the pesky problem of stagflation…

2010 Watch: Gillibrand vs King

Well, that was fast. Newly minted NY Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (who at first glance appears to be a pro-abortion version of Sarah Palin) hasn’t even made her way to Washington D.C. yet, and already people are starting shall we say…dissent.

Yes, it’s true that the New York Times and MSNBC has decided that being “folksy” is suddenly a good thing, but there are reports that some of her Dem colleagues aren’t fond of her, even comparing her (albeit anonymously) to Tracy Glick from perhaps one of the most over rated moves of all time, “Election.”

Then of course there’s my man Pete King, NY representative and Gillibrand’s most probable opponent in 2010. Though instead of making the mistake the Democrat party made in attacking Sarah Palin personally, he’s directing his criticism more to David Patterson and the process of making the selection, which most will agree, got pretty fucked up.

So sayeth the future Senator from the great state of New York:

Wow, Paterson Sure F’ed This up…

So, this open New York senate seat and the selection process has been screwed up to a fair thee well, and now we’re at the he said/she said part of any good scandal. I can hear the great Ed Koch mocking it on the news as I write this.

And of course Pete King, Congressman and the Republican half of the 2010 special election, threw in his two cents as well:

“This looks more and more like the gang that can’t shoot straight. I mean, David Paterson is a good friend of mine, but so far this whole process just makes no sense at off, and we’re talking about a very important seat, in one of the most important states in the country, and we’re going without representation, and it’s just really making it look like a circus. And, you know, the position deserves more than that.”
