I’m a Not-Romney guy. Newt Gingrich is my Not-Romney of choice. I’ve already discussed why Rick Perry campaign and Jon Huntsman campaign haven’t impressed me. Rick Santorum? I’ll have to Google him when I get home, but meh. But while I prefer one Not-Romney to the other two and it would be easier for him if they dropped out, this jive where people demand [candidate X] drop out and endorse is ridiculous.
I know everyone keeps getting more unhinged on the internets when you disagree with them, but three things…

This isn’t an anti-Tebow column. While I defend people like Bill Maher’s right to be a meanspirited, unfunny douchebag, I’ve said all I have to say aboot the Tebow haters. That said, when Rick Perry and Michelle Bachmann claim they want to be the “Tim Tebow” of Iowa…have they looked at the numbers?
Nevermind the fact that after Rick Perry made his comment at the debate instead of him becoming the Tebow of Iowa, Tebow became the Rick Perry of football, they’re both comparing themselves to a Quarterback that has been mostly all media hype with average stats. That is the worst possible comparison for a politician to make. It’s the political equivalent of the news media calling you a front runner even though most polls say you aren’t actually as competitive as everyone keeps saying you are.

This story broke just before I swore of politics for Christmas, but now that I’m back…is Mitt Romney the only one serious about running for President? Because this debacle in Virginia is just embarrassing.
Long story short, Mitt Romney is the only candidate who will be on the ballot for the Virginia primary. NO OTHER CAMPAIGN GOT THE NECESSARY SIGNATURES TO BE ON THE BALLOT (with the exception of that clown Ron Paul). Granted the rules were changed slightly after a lawsuit from last year…which I might be willing to take into account if the other candidates had never run for office before in their lives, and therefore never knew that there are a certain amount of signatures you need to petition your way on to any ballot.

A lot of cats in the blogosphere have been coming out with endorsements of Rick Perry lately, but I’m not seeing it. What’s sad is that I really wanted to.
I know about the record, about the job growth and the tort reform. I know that he’s a strong advocate for the tenth amendment. I know that everyone I know who lives in Texas brags aboot what a great governor. Here’s the rub though: I only know these things because of my friends who live in Texas. Rick Perry has shown no ability whatsoever to communicate those things himself.

I was recently the master of ceremonies at a fundraiser for Walden Mayor (and future Assembly candidate) Brian Maher. Prior to bringing him on, I spoke a little on the importance of local races…
Before I introduce the reason where here today. I just want to talk about the reason WHY we’re here, which is the importance of local races.
Like you, I came off of 2010 fired up and full of energy. This is great, we took back the Congress, he took back state houses, we took back Governorships and elected a ton of great Republicans to bring us into 2012 where we’re going to take back the White House. And I look at the candidates we have running for President who are going to take it to Obama, and all I can say is…meh.
