I’m a huge fan of “Morning Joe.” I’m frustrated that I have to watch MSNBC, but I still enjoy the show and like Mika Brzezinski. I have to be honest though, she lost me yesterday when she sat there reading the White House’s talking points to combat Rudy Giuliani’s points from the week before.
You can argue that Rudy took things to far with his criticism, but then you bring a White House official on to the show and you let THEM give their side of the story.
Actually reading the talking points on air just prove Giuliani’s point aboot being in the tank for Obama, to the point where it looked like she was auditioning for her own prime time show on the network.
I’m sure I’m not alone in saying I was hoping for a Rudy ’10 bumper sticker for the back of my car. Originally I was counting on him to run for Governor, but as he seemed less interested and I read more aboot Rick Lazio, I figure he could easy destroy Kristen Gillibrand for the Senate. She even kept giving him openings to run.
So before I went on sabbatical at the beginning of October, we were questioning two things. One was health care reform. The other, at least in New York, was what Rudy Giuliani was going to do with his life. And while the former is as funked up as if ever was, we’re starting to get clarity on the second.
I’ve always been a big fan of Rudy Giuliani’s, but I’m starting to lose patience. While other states already have their Senate and/or Gubernatorial candidates in place (in some states more than one), we keep hearing from Rudy that he’s “thinking aboot it” and that he’ll, at least in theory, make up his mind after this set of elections. He was also the only top New York Republican who wasn’t at this week’s convention that election Ed Cox as our new state party chair.
Well, New York politics is at least keeping things interesting this week. On the day rumors surfaced that Rudy Giuliani was considering a senate run, two things happened that might help his decision. One was the major terror bust in NYC, reminding us why another strong voice for national security is need on our side. The other was current Senator Kristen Gillibrand being one of seven to vote against cutting off federal funding for ACORN.
I’ve been finding it somewhat embarrassing that we in New York don’t seem to have a candidate to go against current NY Senator Kristen Gillibrand yet. Rep. Pete King said no. Former Gov. George Pataki I think is just flirting with the idea to get attention. While every other state seems to have multiple Republicans running against Democrat incumbents, here in the great state of New York…not so much.
