Mitch Daniels: On Social Issues and a Money Back Guarantee

We have a double dose of the “Monday Mitch” today. I try, depending on time and laziness, to share at least one article concerning my preferred candidate in the 2012 GOP Primary. Thanks to Snowpocolypse 2010 attacking my poor little Long Island (not that I would to complain to anyone from Indiana aboot the snow), you get two!

The first deals with the economy, which is the main reason many of us who are fans of Mitch Daniels are in fact fans of Mitch Daniels. Jonah Goldberg even referred to him as, “…the first pick of wonks and D. C. eggheads.” A perfect example of why would be what he’s doing as Governor of Indiana right now.

You hear R’s and C’s always talking aboot balancing the budget. Why not balance the budget AND give people their money back…

Did Young Republicans Kill the Culture Wars?

There was an interesting article in the always fair and balanced NY Post look at young voters, partially Young Republicans, and how while they support lower taxes and more fiscally conservative policies, their view on the hot button social issues ranges from libertarian to indifference. This is a reason why in New Jersey and Massacusettes, “… old-guard liberals were recently replaced by Chris Christie and Scott Brown, libertarian-ish Republicans who are socially liberal but fiscally conservative.”

And as the article shows, most youngins in general are scattered…

Mitch Daniels is Right About Social Issues

A few blog posts ago, I had mentioned Gov. Mitch Daniels belong to what I call the “Shut Up and Govern” wing of the Republican Party where they never mind the bollocks, instead choosing to focus on issues ands governing. When Daniels said Republicans should “call a truce” over some of the social issues that divide the party, and instead focus on uniting around the economy and financial crisis, I agreed.

Many of the usual suspects didn’t, and have been attacking him over the word “truce,” which they call surrender. Nevermind the fact that Daniels’s social conservative credentials are impeccable AND has the record to back them up, because he suggested focusing on the global fiscal crisis, it equates throwing family values under the bus.

In my opinion, it’s a bunch of horseshit. The Washington Examiner agrees (albeit not in those words)….
