[VIDEO] Mitt Romney: Remember that Guy?

I’ve said before on this blog, I like the path Mitt Romney is taking to inevitably announcing he’s running for President. Instead of jumping up and down and rushing to the nearest camera over every national news story, he’s been behind the scenes raising money for candidates, traveling, and having dinner with a possible running mate?

He does make the rounds on occasion, and the State of the Union address seemed to be as good as a time as any. Besides responding to the President’s wish list for the next year, he’s also opining on who might make a good Presidential candidate for the Republicans…

You know, I don’t know who all is going to get in the race, but I do believe that it would be helpful if at least one of the people who is running in the Republican field had extensive experience in the private sector — in small business, in big business, working with the economy. Because, frankly, not just solving the near-term problems of unemployment — people not getting checks — is going to require someone with that experience — but also also long-term. We’ve got to have a strong economic foundation to make sure that we can stay ahead of the challenges we face — like a growing China and a militarily aggressive China. We’re going to have to stay so far ahead that no one ever questions the capacity of America to stand by the forces of freedom in the world.

Sound like anyone you’ve heard of? Video below the fold…

Sen. Toomey Talks SOTU on Morning Joe – 01/26/11

SOTU Seating: Tom Coburn is an Evil, Evil RINO!

I’m old school. I like my beer cold, my music loud, and my politics bitterly partisan. I have to be honest though, I honestly don’t know which is sillier: assigned seating at the State of the Union, the outrage over the assigned seating at the State of the Union, or the speech itself.

We’re talking aboot a speech where the President is going to say a lot of nice things, and a half an hour after it’s done no one will remember it. Yes, a Democrat suggested in the wake of the Tuscon Shooting the two parties sit together instead of on opposing sides. The media went into overdrive doing what they do, focusing on the most vapid aspect of an already vapid event.

And our side is…upset because we’re sitting next to Democrats? Seriously? Thankfully, there’s Tom Coburn (who no, I don’t actually think is a RINO) to make sense of it all

FULL TRANSCRIPT: Paul Ryan’s Republican Address to the Nation

Good evening. I’m Congressman Paul Ryan from Janesville, Wisconsin – and Chairman here at the House Budget Committee.

President Obama just addressed a Congressional chamber filled with many new faces. One face we did not see tonight was that of our friend and colleague, Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona. We all miss Gabby and her cheerful spirit; and we are praying for her return to the House Chamber.

Earlier this month, President Obama spoke movingly at a memorial event for the six people who died on that violent morning in Tucson. Still, there are no words that can lift the sorrow that now engulfs the families and friends of the fallen.

What we can do is assure them that the nation is praying for them; that, in the words of the Psalmist, the Lord heals the broken hearted and binds up their wounds; and that over time grace will replace grief.
